Ussuriysk (1979) and the Guards Tank Command School named after V.I. Lenin in the city of Ulyanovsk with honours (1983). He served in the Far Eastern Military District and Group of Soviet Forces in Germany in various command and technical positions of the tactical level.

In 1994, he graduated from the Military Academy of Armored Troops with honours and was enrolled in full-time postgraduate course. Successfully defended his Cand. Sc. thesis in Engineering, and in November 1997, was appointed to a research laboratory of this Academy as the chief of the section of armoured and tank arms and equipment’s recovery.

Since December 1998, the Senior Researcher, then the Chief of a Group of the Centre for Military-and-Strategic Studies of the RF Armed Forces’ General Staff. He dealt with problems of the Armed Forces’ build-up. In May 2004, he graduated from the Higher Courses of the Military Academy of the RF Armed Forces’ General Staff.

Since April 2004, he has taken office as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal ‘Military Thought’.

He has more than 30 scientific works, author of two inventions and six innovations.
